
A native of Edmonds, Washington, Flora Nevarez has taught in private studio, university pre-college programs, private schools, and public schools for over 20 years, including four years as Program Coordinator of a private school in Charleston, South Carolina. She holds a graduate degree from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where she studied pedagogy under Mimi Zweig and Dr. Brenda Brenner. Her principal teachers include Walter Schwede, Alan Bodman, Eli Matthews, Brittany MacWilliams, and Dr. Brenda Brenner.
Ms. Nevarez has performed in the United States and Europe as an orchestral, chamber, and recording musician. Enjoying an eclectic mixture of genres, she can be heard on the motion picture soundtrack to the film One Day on Earth (2011), has played violin for touring acts including the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Barry Manilow, and has performed with the Charleston Symphony, Wheeling Symphony, and Akron Symphony Orchestras.
When she is not teaching or performing, Flora enjoys trail running, hiking, and biking.
