Frequently Asked Questions

Are group lessons and theory lessons required for all students?

Group and theory are an included and foundational part of our curriculum. While they are not required, they are strongly recommended to obtain the best value and results. The group classes, as well as other activities, are included in our monthly flat rate.

For the youngest students (age 4-5) the group class serves a dual role, providing musical enriching experiences as well as a foundation for music literacy.

Is it possible for two siblings to have lessons at the same time?

While both children are welcome to be in the room together, parents will quickly notice that in the area of violin study, each child learns in their own unique and individual ways. Even if two children’s rates of learning are fairly well-matched, different things will be challenging for each of them, and their interests and disposition will lend themselves to customizing the curriculum in slightly different ways.

We do offer a “pod” format, in which three developmentally well-matched students  (similar in age) share a one-hour block of time. Each student receives a portion of that time individually with the teacher, while also observing and benefiting from their peers’ lessons. The rate for each student in the pod is discounted by 20% from the individual flat-rate tuition. Most students will be ready for individual lessons after one year of shared lessons.

Does Enchanted Wood offer any trial or introductory classes?

Yes, we do provide an introductory class at a 20% reduction from the teacher’s full rate. Parents are also invited to observe select individual lessons or group classes at no charge.
