Students age 4-5 learn their songs on piano before learning them on violin. This builds fine motor skill, helps make the melodic patterns more visible, and allows your child to make a satisfying melody right from the beginning.
You’re welcome to purchase a piano or keyboard or borrow one from a musical friend. If you purchasing a digital keyboard, weighted keys and touch sensitivity are the two most important features. Strongly musical families may choose to invest in a higher quality instrument, since piano literacy is an essential part of all music study.
Students age 6 and older will need a violin by the second lesson. Please only rent or purchase one from a trusted local shop, such as this one.
